EASY PLACEMAT

Materials:

  • Construction paper
  • Glue or tape
  • Scissors*
  • Contact paper
  • Decorating materials and tools such as:
Smaller pieces construction paper, in a variety of colors
    Pieces of fabric
    Stickers
    Rubber stamps
    Crayons, colored pencils, markers

* If child is too young to cut with scissors materials can be pre-cut for him.

Process:

  1. Give your child one piece of construction paper, color of his choice. This will be the placemat.
  2. He can use the smaller pieces of construction paper and the fabric to cut out shapes or figures (e.g. stars, hearts, snowflakes).
  3. Let your child create his own masterpiece with the cut-outs, stickers, stamps, crayons, colored pencils and markers, making sure that pieces are taped or glued on to the placemat.
  4. When finished, and glue is dry, cover both sides of the construction paper with contact paper for an easy-to-clean, long-lasting placemat!
