About the Fit City Challenge:
Congratulations! You are about to take the first steps toward a
healthier you, and a healthier community. The Fit City Challenge is
a healthy lifestyle initiative designed to encourage and empower
participants to increase your physical activity and eat more fruits and
vegetables. The Fit City
Challenge aims to provide you with the tools, the motivation and the
mentoring for both the individual and the community to succeed in addressing
the epidemic of overweight and obesity.
Our Goals: At the core of the Fit City Challenge are the
parallel goals of walking at least 5 miles per week-or equivalent
activity-and eating at least five fruits and vegetables each day,
then recording progress in these areas on your personal fitness log. Increased exercise and fruit and
vegetable consumption are recognized as essential elements of any successful
weight loss program and the most effective means of lowering our risk for
obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer and other illnesses.
Register Today: Registering online for the Fit City Challenge gives you access to
interactive tools in order to record progress in both physical activity and
fruit and vegetable consumption. This allows you to measure your progress in these
healthy lifestyle choices. If you choose to enter data on weight, waist and hip
measurement or body fat percentage, this site will provide you with feedback to
clearly document the physical changes of adopting this healthy behavior.
